  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (for dumplings)
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter, softened
  • ½ cup milk (whole or 2%)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until no longer pink. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Add diced onion and sauté until soft. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Incorporate tomato paste and flour into the beef mixture, then gradually add beef broth while stirring until combined.
  4. Season with thyme, paprika, salt, and pepper; let simmer for 8–10 minutes.
  5. In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder, and salt for dumplings. Add softened butter and milk until just combined.
  6. Drop spoonfuls of dumpling dough onto the beef mixture in the skillet. Cover and let steam on low heat for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  7. Once cooked through, serve hot with some fresh herbs as garnish if desired.
